Giving is receiving

Life is so short and I believe is our duty to treasure them and make full use of it. I feel that volunteering is a the best way to learn about life where one can truly experience the joy of being selfless. I hope that I could do many meaningful things and brighten many people lives in my life. Additional, I wish I could understand more about myself in this coming OVE trip. I believe it will be a memorable and life changing experience that I will never forget.

The overseas volunteering trip I went on back in 2009 taught me that despite the social and cultural differences people have, emotions and kindness are universal. We were there to teach English to the kids but we ended up learning more from them - about the spirit of caring, hope and friendship. By heading out, we learnt better to appreciate what we have back here.

Kindness begets kindness - a saying almost forgotten by the modern society. However, bit by bit, individual by individual, I believe that we can still do our part to make this world a better place. Together with this team of volunteers, I hope our passion to give back to society can inspire many more like-minded volunteers to do our part for society.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Like me, the poor kids in Vietnam has hopes and dreams. Sometimes, look into their eyes on the street, i can feel that their hope is fading off day by day. Therefore, I want to help them to nurture their dreams as i know we are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can fly only by embracing each other.

To me, OVE has been an extraordinary and meaningful way to play a part in helping the less fortunate. I was motivated to be part of an OVE Project since young when I was inspired by TV celebrities who go overseas for a similar cause :)
